Welcome to our website. Aylesbury Opera Group is an amateur opera society based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Founded by David Hayes in 1979, AOG has produced a fully staged opera, with orchestra, annually for the last 30 years. Since 2002 we have performed in the Court Theatre at Tring in Hertfordshire, a professional venue seating 200, through whom we receive assistance from the Tring Arts Trust.
Anyone is welcome to join AOG. Chorus and principals are drawn both locally and from further afield. Auditions for principal roles are held in early July and advertised on our website from May. Chorus members are not required to audition. As well as performers on-stage, backstage crew, make-up and costume volunteers are always welcome.
We rehearse on Sunday afternoons in Walton Street Church Hall, Aylesbury. Rehearsals start in September, concentrating on the music before then moving onto production in subsequent weeks.
